Several persons went missing and are now feared dead after a boat carrying flood victims capsized in the swollen Kosi in Bihar's Madhepura district during a rescue mission on Friday.
An ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh, including an immediate relief of Rs 50,000, was announced by the collector for the kin of the deceased.
"Eight bodies have been fished out while three to four persons are still missing and feared drowned," officials said.
Police and PAC personnel have fished out 22 bodies so far while 10 others have been rescued, he said. A search was on to trace others.
A survivor has claimed that the incident occurred after the boat hit a rocky patch in the Prongs Reef Lighthouse area in sea, which is the southernmost tip of Mumbai.
